Our Kaupapa Medical Centre in Masterton is a kaupapa Māori–led, Very Low Cost Access (VLCA) practice, grounded in manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and kaitiakitanga. We are not corporate, and we don’t operate with corporate margins. The role

Nurse Practitioner – General Practice
FULL-TIME | PRIMARY CARE | KAUPAPA MĀORI HEALTH
Are you a Nurse Practitioner who wants to work at the top of your scope, build meaningful relationships with whānau, and make a genuine difference in community health?
Whaiora is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our general medical practice for a full-time, permanent contract. This is a primary care role (not hospital-based) offering autonomy, continuity of care, and the opportunity to contribute to equity-focused, whānau-centred health outcomes.

Whaiora is a kaupapa Māori health provider committed to improving hauora for whānau through accessible, integrated, and culturally grounded services. Guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori models of health, we work alongside whānau, hapū, and iwi to deliver care that makes a real difference.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working within a general medical practice / primary care setting, you will provide advanced clinical care to enrolled patients and whānau across the lifespan. The role focuses on continuity of care, long-term condition management, preventative health, and early intervention.
You will practice autonomously within your Nurse Practitioner scope while working closely with GPs, nurses, kaiāwhina, and wider community services.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Providing advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing in primary care
- Managing acute presentations and long-term conditions
- Delivering preventative care, screening, immunisations, and health promotion
- Supporting whānau-centred, culturally safe care grounded in kaupapa Māori values
- Contributing to improved access, equity, and population health outcomes
- Working collaboratively within a general practice team and wider health system
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Endorsed Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Current APC and prescriber status
- Experience in primary care, general practice, or community settings
- Strong clinical judgement, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to health equity and whānau-centred care
- Experience in Māori health is welcomed but not essential

Well Child Tamariki Ora Nurse – Full Time (40 hours per week)

Whaiora is looking for a dedicated Tamariki Ora Nurse to join our team and help shape healthier futures for our youngest generation.
About the role
As a Tamariki Ora Nurse, you’ll deliver comprehensive Well Child services to tamariki and whānau across the Wairarapa. You’ll work within a holistic, multi-disciplinary, whānau-centric model of care, supporting health, development, and wellbeing from the very start of life.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver Tamariki Ora / Well Child checks and assessments
- Provide whānau-centred care planning, education, and support
- Build strong relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi and community providers
- Identify needs early and connect whānau with the right supports
- Deliver care in homes, clinics, and community settings
What you’ll bring
- Registered Nurse with current APC
- WCTO Postgraduate Certificate (or willing to work towards)
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
- Understanding and practical application of Tikanga Māori
- Passion for Māori health and equity communication and relationship-building skills
- Full, clean NZ driver licence
