Our Kaupapa Medical Centre in Masterton is a kaupapa Māori–led, Very Low Cost Access (VLCA) practice, grounded in manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and kaitiakitanga. About the Role: As our Tamariki Ora Nurse, you’ll partner with families, whānau, and caregivers to support children’s health and development from birth to three years, laying strong foundations for lifelong wellbeing. Your clinical expertise and cultural sensitivity will be key to empowering whānau and enhancing community health outcomes.
Who We’re Looking For: Essential
- Current Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- CPR and/or Advanced Life Support Certification
- Genuine motivation to improve local community health outcomes
- Understanding and practical application of Tikanga Māori
- Excellent communication, organisational, and computer skills
- Ability to manage workload independently and maintain confidentiality
- Full, clean driver’s licence
Desirable:
- Postgraduate Certificate in PHC Specialty Nursing Well Child/Tamariki Ora
- Experience in Primary Healthcare, MedTech systems, and Māori health models

Tēnei tūranga | About the role
We are seeking a Kaikōkiri – Clinical Administration Assistant to support our GPs, Nurse Practitioners and wider clinical team This role requires a strong foundation in medical knowledge to support the accurate management and prioritisation of patient documentation, including clinical results. Sound clinical understanding is critical to ensure information is escalated appropriately for follow-up and support, helping to deliver safe, responsive, and culturally respectful healthcare for our patients and whānau.
You will work closely with clinicians to manage clinical administration, patient communication, correspondence, recalls and follow-ups, while upholding high standards of confidentiality, cultural safety and professionalism. This is a role for someone who understands that administration in a kaupapa Māori setting is not just about systems, but about people, relationships and trust.
Ngā haepapa matua | Key responsibilities
- Provide quality clinical administration support to GPs and NPs
- Manage clinical inboxes, results, recalls, referrals and follow-up actions
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and whānau
- Support efficient clinical workflows and identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and data entry
- Uphold Whaiora policies, patient privacy, and health and safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with nurses, HCAs and the wider practice team

You will thrive in this role if you bring:
- An understanding of, or strong commitment to, kaupapa Māori values and whānau-centred care
- Respect for tikanga Māori and the ability to work effectively with Māori communities
- Experience in a health, clinical or patient-focused environment (primary care preferred)
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A calm, solutions-focused approach, even under pressure
- High levels of discretion, integrity and professionalism
- Confidence using patient management systems and Microsoft Office
- A willingness to learn, reflect and grow in cultural safety and practice
Medical knowledge or a health-related qualification (including those awaiting registration) is essential.

Registered Nurse – Immunising Our Tamariki
6-Month Fixed Term | 32 Hours per Week | Community-Based
Whaiora is seeking a whole of life authorised vaccinator to join our team in the Wairarapa for a 6-month fixed term role. Hours are negotiable, with availability of up to 32 hours per week and include occasional weekend and late clinics to support community needs. We are open to discussing how this could work for the right person.
This role is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about health equity, enjoys working out in the community, and is committed to removing barriers that prevent whānau from accessing care. You’ll be part of a dynamic team working to reach tamariki and families who haven’t been able to access traditional immunisation services, particularly in areas with historically low immunisation rates.
About the role
- 32 hours per week, with some weekend work required
- Deliver vaccinations in community settings, outreach clinics, and whānau homes
- Support whānau with education and guidance around immunisations
- Work collaboratively with other health providers and community partners
- Promote holistic wellbeing and equitable access to healthcare services
About you
You are a Registered Nurse with;
- Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
- Authorised Vaccinator – Whole of Life
- Current CPR certification
- Experience in community health or outreach settings (preferred)
- A passion for working alongside Māori and Pacific whānau
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the Wairarapa region
